The Confident, Fashion-Forward Dad
If dad is constantly updating his look, give him the ultimate accessory. A bold new scent, Express Honor captures downtown edge and big-city cool with one spritz. A watery, fresh and aromatic scent, Honor blends energizing top notes of fresh water accord, peppermint and basil, leading to a heart of grapefruit, fig and green ivy. The smoldering fragrance dries down to a base of musk, vetiver and a hint of vanilla. The fragrance is housed in an edgy, flask-shaped silver bottle which is emblazoned with Express’s signature lion logo.  50ml EDT, $44.90; 100ml EDT, $59.90 Available at Express.com and Express stores nationwide

The Art Lover and Pop Culture Enthusiast
If Dad is a patron of the arts, give him a fragrance worth collecting. Inspired by legendary artist Andy Warhol’s summer forays to Montauk, Long Island, Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Montauk marks the fifth in Bond No. 9’s series of Warhol collectible eaux de parfum. Not your typical summer fragrance, Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Montauk takes a new approach to the genre of beach scent: It riffs on the duality of country and city, rural and urban. The fresh and tangy initial flavors of blueberry and wild bergamot give way, first to sultry, sexy hyacinth, lily of the valley, and honeysuckle, and then to rich, clean forest-by-the-sea aromas—silver maple, red oak, driftwood, and amber. Choose from 2 bottle designs, each displaying two of Warhol’s iconic Sunset paintings dating from 1972, truly making this fragrance a piece of art. Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Montauk makes its timely arrival on-counter in June, just in time for Father’s Day.
50ml, $145; 100ml, $220. Available at Bondno9.com
The Old-School Allure of The Gentlemen's Club Dad
Sacré Coeur (sacred heart) by perfumer Laurent Bruyère for the line Ego Facto gives the classic citrus-leather accord a new twist with an original and utterly unexpected Chablis accord. The tart, fruity-flinty aroma spills over an aromatic herbal blend before seeping into a rugged patchouli, tobacco and leather base. Think old-style gentlemen’s club – cool wine, a whiff of Havana from the humidor, a deep leather chair and the comfortably musty smell of old books – perked up with a dash of humor. Intoxicating.
50ml, $90. Available at Luckyscent.com

The Dad That Exudes the Heroism of a Greek God
The lucid composition of Peloponnesian Eau de Parfum by Strange Invisible Perfumes is built with the ancient perfumes of the Greek peninsula. Salted Aegean winds glide through the branches of cypress, lime, and orange trees, lifting their epic aromas into the Peloponnesian mountains. Available at siperfumes.com and Beautyhabit.com

Softly spicy, warm and powdery, undeniably feminine, Nanadebary Pink is a fragrance lover's dream scent. It's been described as a fragrance so delicious you want to wear it every day then spritz on a little more before you go to bed. Made from natural raw materials using organic methods, the signature fragrance from Austrian designer Nana de Bary is exquisite in every detail. Subtle and distinctive and sexy.

Notes: nutmeg (very subtle), coriander, giner, Sicilian tangerine, bergamot, jasmine, sandalwood, cedar, Indian amber, Bourban vanilla

Victoria wrote me asking where she could buy a bottle of Nana's fragrant pink fragrance for shipping to the UK. Victoria, all three of Nandebary's fragrances are very, very hard to keep in stock. They've been offered at a number of fragrance emporiums over the years, but they never stay for long. You generally have to catch them when you can. This scent is so gorgeous I can easily understand why it's lasted the test of time as a classic loved by many across the world.

Nanadebary fragrances are available in Pink (her signature first, the classic), Green (a sparkling scent with hints of citron, basil and vetiver) and my personal favorite of the three Bronze (the warmest and most intense of the scents with mandarine, ylang-ylang, tuberose, iris and a base of rich amber, cedarwood and light mush ... truly divine!) Currently, you can find Nanadebary at Luckyscent online or by telephone orders and through Nanadebary directly.

Both will ship to the UK as well as other parts of the world. Enjoy, Victoria! xo

Andy Tauer has once again waved his fragrant wand and put magic in a bottle: Une Rose Chyprée is like an exotic dessert with its blend of natural rose extracts, geranium, citruses, spices and patchouli. The slightest touch of vanilla and cinnamon harmonize the slightly green, airy rose accord with the gourmand notes. Strikingly rich and delicious.

Une Rose Chyprée is the first fragrance in the Andy Tauer's Mémorables line. Presented in small flacons and bottled and packed by hand, the Mémorables are compared to delicate and precious pralines. Whatever it is that makes this harmonious, rich arrangement strike such a perfect balance between the slightly green, airy rose accord and the gourmand, we don’t know. Chalk it up to Andy Tauer’s magic.

Une Rose Chyprée Notes:
Rosa damascena absolute and essential oil, bay, cinnamon, bergamot, lemon, Clementine, Bourbon geranium, labdanum, oak moss, patchouli, vetiver, vanilla

Available for pre-order in 15ml flacons (shown in image above) for $75 through Luckyscent. You may also garner a small sample of this new Andy Tauer creation through Luckyscent for $3. This perfume is destined to be all the talk when it actually hits shelves in July. Mark my words!

FYI: Receive free FedEx Ground Shipping (continental USA) on any order $50 or more through June. Use code: JUNE at checkout. Remember, though, this new fragrance doesn't ship until July 1st.

Sensual, exotic and sultry!

Created by artisanal perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, Cuir Ottoman, is inspired by the erotism and the mystery of the East, their Ottoman hammams, and is a leather perfume of extraordinary delight, forceful, elegant and extremely sensual. The powerful impact of the leather is softened by a bright and sweet orris note and ornamented beautifully by jasmine, herbs and incense. The scent, which is slightly animalic (only slightly though), resinous and warm, does evoke the Ottoman splendor and sensuality. Mysterious, alluring, soft yet full of character, Cuir Ottoman is sweetly smouldering and decidely smooth.

Cuir Ottoman may be worn by both men and women. After getting out a warm shower last night and stepping into a cold room, I decided it was the perfect scent to warm me up. Indeed it was. Cystus, vanilla and tonka bean add sweetness to the fragrance while incense intoxicates, albeit subtly, with an element of smokiness. It's a gorgeous fragrance, soothing to the soul yet exciting in its breadth.

Cuir Ottoman Notes:
jasmine, leather, iris, benzoin, balsams, resins, incense

Cuir Ottoman by Parfum d'Empire is available in bottles of 50 ml ($75) and 100 ml ($110 - $125, depending where bought) and may be purchased at Luckyscent and Beautyhabit. It's among one of the top leather scents sold at both stores.

The quintessential Valentine's Gift - a little luxury for your pucker!

A lover of all things exfoliation, Sara Happ’s bathroom was well-stocked with scrubs. “I love the feeling of seriously smooth skin, the way you glow from head to toe after sloughing off dead cells. Heaven,” she says. Missing from her collection was any such product for her lips. She went to her (rarely used) kitchen and got to work. Months later, her sugar-based recipes were perfected. She mixed batches of product the way most people bake cookies, labeling and filling each jar by hand, tying each box with her signature white bow. Today, the line can be found at over 400 luxury boutiques worldwide.

Let me tell you, this product is brilliant! Sara Happ Lip Scrub is a luxury for the senses in more than just touch. Yes, your lips will be incredibly smooth, soft and supple. But there's more. The scents and flavors of these scrubs are just as heavenly as the results - decadent even. Eliminates dry, flaky skin to leave lips ridiculously soft - comes in the scent of: Cocoa (the one I have - mmmm, rich dark cocoa, just the smell of it gives away its quality essence), Cinnamon Sugar, Brown Sugar, Vanilla Bean, Almond Crème and Peppermint. ($24 - 1 oz jar) - these are nice sizes for a product of this kind.

Now, onto her newest delight - The Lip Slip. A balm like no other, the lip slip leaves no color, just the richest, glossiest hydration imaginable. Infused with Sweet Almond, Jojoba & Macadamia Nut Oils. Wear it all day. Wear it overnight. Results are immediate. This is not a waxy feeling balm, it's more a luscious, creamy gel with the properties of a high-end gloss. Sara's inspiration for the lip slip: The supple feel of a shimmery gold YSL calfskin bag. A bottle of Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. Your favorite camisole; soft, sweet, nude, girly and grand. ($24 - 1 oz jar)

There's just something sweet and special about receiving a gift wrapped in a little box with a bow. You know there's going to be something wonderful inside. Sara Happ lip products exceed expectation. You don't have to have a partner to enjoy kissable, healthy lips! You'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Find Sara Happ Lip Scrub and Lip Slip at b-glowing, Beautyhabit and Luckyscent.

A beautiful, grown-up comfort scent - and really, is there anyone who couldn’t use an extra dose of comfort right about now? Jus d’Amour opens with coconut – sweet, but not cupcake-topping sweet. This is a dark and dusky coconut, and there is a brief moment when it meets the mysterious and green aqualeaf accord that makes us wonder if we might be headed someplace edgy. Then the most soothing, enveloping woods appear, and it is clear that the place we are headed is the coziest chair in the room, complete with a cashmere throw. We can feel the knots in our neck begin to unwind, as creamy Tahitian vanilla wraps itself around mesmerizing sandalwood. Even the lilting violets and jasmine snuggle into the tranquil blend instead of floating above it. Sophisticated and serene, with a warm, soft sweetness that takes the edge off a stressful day. Just what we needed.

Review:
Don't let the description above fool you. This really is not an icky sweet fragrance - at all. In fact, the cleaness of the scent may surprise you. It's got almost a soapy scented character about it. The vanilla and sandalwood, while present, are very subtle. Truly, this is a tranquil blend soft and sexy, one to be enjoyed.
Mercedes Ganon herself is quite the artiste. Aside from creating lovely blends of fragrance, she is also an accomplished singer. Mercedes is an 'edgy' traditionalist who believes in breaking the rules within her music. She composes, sings, and performs with a dramatic sense of urgency. You can learn more about her at her website here.

Jus d'Amour EDP by Parfums Mercedes is available at Luckyscent and is available in a 65ml bottle retailing for $90 and a perfume oil (1/4 oz) for $60. Remember, too, that Luckyscent does afford us the opportunity to sample fragrances for as little as $3 (or enjoy free samples with purchases) - a nice way to see if we like the fragrance before buying.

Olivier Durbano's newest fragrance, Jade, is a continuation of his series of gemstone perfume poems. Long worshipped as the stone of immortality and a symbol of love and power, jade is also thought to bring inner peace, justice and harmony. Durbano’s olfactory rendering of the stone is a beautifully realized green-woody scent. Though we think of jade the ornamental stone as cool and opaque, Jade the perfume has a flavoring of coolness yet is at its heart warm, deep, earthy and refreshingly clear capturing the soul of the stone versus its hard exterior.

Durbano didn't start as a perfumer by profession. An architect by training and a jewelry designer by profession, Olivier Durbano found himself drawn even deeper into the mysterious world of gemstone jewelry, fascinated by their stories and sharing an obsession that has entranced mankind from the dawn of time. The gems, stones and crystals that adorn these pieces and their long histories of whispered charms and omens had a personal meaning to Durbano, one that he connected with fragrance as both lay on the skin and create a mood to both the wearer and the admirer. He decided to explore this “poetic dimension,” taking his time to infuse perfumes with the feel of mystery, beauty and intrigue of gems and making each scent a perfume poem, a magical olfactory ode to the gem or crystal which is represents. Seven fragrances are planned for his unique Bijoux de Pierres Poèmes (Perfumes of Stones Poems), each one unearthing fragments of buried memories and emotions, the scents themselves linking to precious or primitive stones -- contemporary talismans to offer to a world in search of pureness, harmony and serenity.

As the fragrance opens, what strikes me is the mint, yet this is not a peppermint or spearmint sweetness, more the crisp essence of mint after its lingered amongst your senses for a while, lending the quality of refreshment. The tea, vetiver, patchouli and musk blend harmoniously deepening the heart of the fragrance and giving it its warmth. The amber is very subtle, warming, further enriching its earthy quality. The scent takes on a decidedly more masculine feel in character however is delicate in nature, not at all robust. This is not a sweet, frilly creation. The mood of Jade is calm yet freshly renewed. Its green color reiterates its gemstone muse housed in a simple, modern, architecturally-clean bottle.

Jade notes: green tea, star anise, mint, cardamom, iris, jasmine, Chinese cinnamon, amber, patchouli, vetiver, moss, musk, immortale, mathé

Bottle - 100 ml $125

Jade by Olivier Durbano is available at Luckyscent. You may request a small sample (1/32 oz - $4) of Jade, or just about any other fragrance in their offerings, from the dear angels at Luckyscent. It's a fantastic way to try a fragrance before purchasing the bottle. I just adore Luckyscent - so many delicious fragrances, so little time.

Latest Luckyscent Exsclusive - Sinfoia di Note

Luckyscent exclusive ~ Sinfonia di Note

LS says one of their very favorite things about visiting Italy is that they always discover the most incredible fragrances there. Sinfonia di Note is a gem of a line that they found in a little shop in Florence and it has all those qualities we all adore in Italian scents: excellent craftsmanship, striking originality and a sense of drama. The creators liken the creation of fragrance to the composition of music- The passion; the complexity; the ability to convey an infinite array of emotions using the same set of instruments.

The Sinfonia di Note collection is unusual and varied-- with some particular treasures for gourmand and spice lovers. They are also rather mysterious. While the creator does provide a list of notes for their scents, they are a bit - how do you say? - vague. No one wants to force masters to hand over their secret recipes, so Luckyscent invites you to speculate along with them as you experience this delightful collection.

Sinfonia di Note - $150, Eau de Parfum, 100ml.
Sinfonia di Note - SAMPLE PACK collection: 8 samples - One special price - $26
Order here - Limited availability.

Sinfonia di Note is exclusively available in the states at Luckyscent.

Vanilla - one of my favorite notes. Versatile in its offerings - vanilla can add warmth, depth or a touch of sweetness depending on the variety used and the accompanying notes in the blend. Luckyscent is bringing their picks for tops in vanilla fragrances to your attention. Check 'em out:

  • NOTE VANILLEE EDP by M. Micallef - 75 ml $180
We usually think of vanillas as of good girl scents, cozy scents, comforting scents… Micallef’s Note Vanillee, with its impish licorice accord and a boozy undertone of cognac and rum is a girl gone bad, very, very bad. We can’t get enough of the honeyed piquancy of the perfume, with its juicy mandarin and its seductive jasmine; the base of sandalwood, vanilla and smoky, sweet tobacco, rum and cognac is sinfully delicious. To paraphrase a famous quote, when vanillas go bad, we go right after them! Notes: mandarin, jasmine, honey, licorice, sandalwood, vanilla, cognac, rum

  • VANILLE AOUD EDP by M. Micallef - 75 ml $180 As far as we are concerned, there can’t be too many great vanilla scents and there certainly can’t be too many aouds. Combine the two, and we are smitten. We are addicted to this unique combo of creamy, dreamy vanilla and spicy, resinous aoud. It is a perfect yin and yang harmony. The caramel-like sweetness of vanilla mixed with ylang-ylang and prune softens the starkness of aoud. Oud, in turn, prevents the vanilla accord from being too predictably foodie and infantile. This is a vanilla fragrance for those who usually shy away from vanillas… and a perfect starter scent for those curious about aouds. Notes: bergamot, ylang-ylang, prune, oud, caramel, musk, vanilla, benzoin

  • VANILLA EXTASY EDP by Montale - 50 ml $95, 100 ml $135
Vanilla lovers will be ecstatic about this Montale creation, the complex, sensual and indescribably delicious blend of vanilla, flowers, fruits and resins. Blended with creamy ylang-ylang and sultry jasmine, this is a grown-up vanilla-seductress. The delicious note of apricot adds a honeyed and playful touch to the composition, contrasted by the heavy-leaded, dark sensuality of the woody, resinous base of sandalwood, mahogany wood and benzoin. Heavenly delight, bottled. Notes: ylang-ylang from Comoro Islands, Egyptian jasmine, apricot, sandalwood, mahogany, bensoin, vanilla

  • ELEMENT OF ATTRACTION EDT by Creative Universe - Beth Terry - 4.3 oz $72 A lovely and streamlined citrus-kissed rose that has all of the Beth Terry trademarks: clean, modern elegance; confident simplicity and that ineffable quality of being just right for any occasion. This is a lovely, fresh, perfect rose – the sort of rose that is most stunning when showcased in a single crystal vase rather than hidden in a profusion of flowers. Green mandarin and crisp citrus give the rose a sparkling and transparent quality and an admirably light handed dusting of amber and vanilla gives it all a warm glow. Subtlety is not a word that usually leaps to mind when one considers rose and vanilla – but in this case, the blend is indeed subtle, soft and beckoning. A prime example of how a scent can be seductive without trumpeting your arrival in a room. Notes: citrus, green mandarin, vanilla, amber and rose

  • LANN-AEL EDT by Lostmarc'h - 100 ml $75 Breakfast in fairyland: lighter-than-air buckwheat cakes; bowls of warm, pudding like cereal topped with cream ladled from the top of the milking bucket; sweet apples “borrowed” by the pixies from a nearby orchard. A delectable honeyed fruit opening eases into a soft and mellow vanilla-tinged milkiness that is as comforting as a mother’s embrace. Incredibly cozy and yummy, this will definitely appeal to foodie scent fans, but it also has an airy quality that is unusual for a gourmand fragrance, so it may appeal to those looking for something soft, as well. We are (quite unscientifically) attributing this lightness to some sort of magical spell, remembering the tales of those mortals so enchanted by a meal of faerie treats that they could never bear the taste of mortal food again. A whiff of this, and we can see how that could happen. Lann-ael means “angel heath” in Breton. Notes: buckwheat, cereals, milk, apple, vanilla. For more information about the divine Lostmarc'h fragrances, click here.

Famed perfume house, L'Artisan, is getting ready for a series of three new perfume launches this fall. In October, the french niche perfumery will introduce its own new scent called Fleur de Liane (Vine Flower) to be offered exclusively at eight New York-based Barney's stores and five of its L'Artisan boutiques stateside. All three of the upcoming fragrances are said to be unisex and blended by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, who became L'Artisan's in-house perfumer six months ago. L’Artisan’s Fleur de Liane fragrance was inspired by Duchaufour’s travels to the Panamanian island of Bahia Honda during the rainy season. “The idea was to capture the scent of the forest,” he said, adding the result is an “abstract concept, [the aroma] of an imaginary flower.”

Also in October, a collaborative fragrance with Aedes de Venustas, the gorgeous perfume boutique in New York, will be unveiled. The Aedes de Venustas scent, a woody-oriental eau de parfum, was unveiled at a luncheon held at the Manhattan home of Marjorie and Michael Loeb on Thursday. The scent features top notes of orange, pink pepper, cardamom and incense; a heart of black pepper, rose, iris and cedarwood, and base notes of patchouli, coffee, opoponax, benzoin and tree moss. Notes of white musk and vanilla have been added for a soft touch.

The trio will round off with L'Artisan's launch of a fragrance they are developing for L.A.-based perfumery Scent Bar, of Luckyscent.com heritage, in November. The scent, in its infant stages, is going by the code name Chaparral, taking its name from Southern California’s dominant dry shrub plant community that the fragrance’s notes intend to capture. Scent Bar co-owner Adam Eastwood says of L'Artisan, "They really have a history of painting a picture with a fragrance and that struck us as something we wanted to do.”

And so they do ...
